What is in the box

One 9 oz candle in a reusable glass jar and one matte black wick trimmer, packed together in a plain box. You choose the jar — clear, which shows the wax, or amber, which warms the light and hides the wax as it burns down. The candle is a soy wax blend on a 100% cotton wick, roughly 2.8 inches across and 3.5 inches tall, with an approximate burn time of 50 to 60 hours.

Why the trimmer matters

An untrimmed wick is the reason candles smoke, soot the glass and burn down one side. Trimming to about a quarter inch before every lighting fixes all three, and a trimmer reaches into a jar that scissors cannot once the wax level drops. It is an unglamorous object to receive and the one people end up using constantly, which is why it is in the box rather than sold separately.
